M5 MacBook Air Upgrade
The M5 MacBook Air marks an exciting upgrade from Apple, showcasing a new processor that enhances daily performance and value. With this new model, users can expect notable improvements in AI capabilities, doubled storage options, and faster connectivity—all at a lower price point compared to the MacBook Pro series.
What’s New in the M5-Powered MacBook Air
While the overall design of the MacBook Air has not changed, Apple introduces a fresh sky blue colour option, joining the existing midnight, starlight, and silver variants. The device is available in both 13-inch and 15-inch models, maintaining its fanless aluminium structure and featuring a Liquid Retina display that reaches brightness levels of up to 500 nits.
Performance Enhancements with the M5 Chip
The standout feature of this year’s MacBook Air is undoubtedly the M5 chip, which consists of a 10-core CPU and a GPU that can also have up to 10 cores, each equipped with a Neural Accelerator. This setup boasts performance that is said to be up to four times more efficient in handling AI tasks compared to the previous M4 model. Additional improvements include faster unified memory with a bandwidth of 153GB/s, reflecting a 28% upgrade over the M4.
Storage and Speed Improvements
The base storage capacity has been enhanced, starting at 512GB, with the option to configure it up to 4TB for the first time. Moreover, the new SSD technology provides double the read/write performance of earlier generations, ensuring swift data access.
Connectivity Features
Similar to the MacBook Pro range, the M5 MacBook Air includes Apple’s N1 wireless chip, enabling Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity. The laptop is equipped with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, allowing support for up to two external displays, alongside MagSafe for dedicated charging. Additionally, a 12MP Centre Stage camera with Desk View support enhances video calling experiences.
M5 MacBook Air Pricing and Availability in India
