Renowned filmmaker Luca Guadagnino is currently in discussions to direct Artificial, a film that is reportedly progressing with incredible speed at Amazon MGM Studios. The production is headed by David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford under the banner of Heyday Films. Simon Rich, who is not only the screenwriter but also serves as a producer, is on board for this ambitious project. Moreover, Jennifer Fox is likely to join the production team, contributing further expertise.

The Hollywood Reporter indicates that production is being accelerated for a potential shoot planned for the summer, with San Francisco and Italy earmarked as primary filming locations. Although no casting agreements have been confirmed, preliminary talks suggest that Andrew Garfield might take on the role of Altman. Additionally, Monica Barbaro is being considered for the position of CTO Mira Murati, while Yura Borisov could portray Ilya Sutskever, the co-founder instrumental in seeking Altman’s removal from the company.

Should Artificial move forward, it would represent Guadagnino’s third project with Amazon MGM. His previous works include After the Hunt, featuring Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield, slated for release in October, and Challengers, which debuted in theatres last year.

Prior to Artificial, Guadagnino was set to direct Sgt. Rock, an action-packed World War II film for DC starring Colin Farrell. Nonetheless, that project was ultimately shelved due to production issues, conveniently allowing Artificial to take precedence.
