Bharat Taxi: A New Player in Delhi-NCR Cab Services
Bharat Taxi, an Indian government-supported cab service platform, has commenced operations in the Delhi-NCR area. Delhi commuters now have an expanded selection alongside Uber, Ola, and Rapido. Unlike many other cab service applications, Bharat Taxi aims to deliver a smoother experience with fixed fare rates and no commission charges. Furthermore, it asserts that rates will remain standardised, meaning there will be no surge pricing during peak times, adverse weather, or heightened demand.
As per the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, a recent post on X revealed that Bharat Taxi has exceeded four lakh registered customers, reportedly adding up to 45,000 new users each day. The app has achieved the 9th spot on the Google Play Store and the 13th on the Apple App Store. However, questions may arise regarding its pricing structure and whether it is more affordable than other prominent cab service applications.
Bharat Taxi vs Ola vs Uber
A price comparison was conducted between the Bharat Taxi app and Ola for an identical journey of 25.2 KM, from Noida Film City to Aerocity, New Delhi. The bike fare through Bharat Taxi was Rs 191, a non-AC cab cost Rs 510, and an AC cab priced at Rs 562. In comparison, Ola’s bike service was available for Rs 255, with the Mini non-AC at Rs 452 and the Mini at Rs 477. Opting for a sedan with Ola led to a fare increase to Rs 504. In the same distance scenario, Uber’s bike cost Rs 158, with Uber Go at Rs 409 and Premier also coming in at Rs 409. This demonstrates a significant price disparity, although Bharat Taxi remains on the higher end of the spectrum.
This finding indicates that Uber is the most economical option, followed by Ola, while the Bharat Taxi app appears to be the priciest. Nonetheless, as the app has only recently launched its services, pricing adjustments may occur as the company refines its pricing approach and broadens its reach.
