OpenAI assures that the ChatGPT Health tab places a strong emphasis on user privacy and security. The company claims that the interface employs robust protections, including specialised encryption methods to secure health conversations. Consequently, users can feel confident that their medical records will remain protected while enjoying more contextual interactions.
OpenAI mentioned that the launch of ChatGPT Health is aimed at empowering users to take a more proactive approach to understand and manage their health and wellness, while still supporting, but not substituting, professional care from clinicians.
Global User Engagement
The company shared that over 230 million individuals worldwide turn to ChatGPT each week for health queries. By leveraging the uploaded information and connecting to fitness applications, ChatGPT can gain better insights into users’ current health conditions and test results. This enables the platform to offer appropriate guidance and recommendations to users. Additionally, these features allow users to explore various insurance options based on their healthcare needs.
OpenAI further clarified that ChatGPT Health is designed to assist, not replace, medical treatment. It is not meant for diagnosis or therapy; rather, it helps users navigate everyday questions and recognise health patterns over time.
Rolling Out to Users
The ChatGPT Health feature is currently being made available to a limited group of users to enhance the overall experience. Interested individuals can join the waitlist for access. This functionality will soon be offered to ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, and Pro users on web and iOS platforms. However, OpenAI notes that this feature will not be accessible in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
