Veo 3 AI Video Generator Enhances Mobile Compatibility
Veo 3 AI video generator from Google has been enhanced, now offering support for vertical videos and improved resolutions, which makes the tool ideal for mobile-first platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
Updates to Veo 3 AI Video Generator
According to information from Google’s developer blog, both Veo 3 and its faster, more economical counterpart Veo 3 Fast can now create videos in a 9:16 aspect ratio. Developers can access this feature by adjusting the aspectRatio parameter when making requests through the Gemini API.
Higher Video Quality and Cost Reductions
The latest update enables developers to produce 1080p videos, though this feature is currently limited to the standard 16:9 format, while vertical video production remains capped at 720p. In addition to these advancements, Google has significantly lowered pricing: it now costs $0.40 per second to generate videos with Veo 3, a decrease from $0.75. Meanwhile, Veo 3 Fast is now priced at $0.15 per second, down from $0.40.
Unique Features of Veo 3
What sets Veo 3 apart from other AI video generators is its ability to produce both visuals and audio, allowing for the creation of hyperrealistic content such as AI-generated street interviews and influencer-style videos. Previously, most of this content was created in a horizontal format or converted into vertical formats using other tools.
Concerns About AI Content Overload
The introduction of vertical formats has also reignited worries about an overwhelming influx of what some call “AI slop” across social media platforms. Critics are concerned that easier and more cost-effective AI generation could lead to a substantial increase in content that is uncanny and hard to distinguish from real media, erasing the boundaries between authentic and synthetic content.
Future Integration of Veo 3
Currently, vertical support has only been made available to developers. However, Google has indicated that Veo 3 will be integrated into YouTube Shorts later this year, hinting at potential access for consumers. If this occurs, social media feeds on TikTok, Reels, and Shorts may soon be saturated with AI-generated clips, raising new issues regarding content authenticity and moderation.
