Ghost Murmur: CIA’s Advanced Technology for Pilot Rescue
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has unveiled an innovative and secretive technology named Ghost Murmur, aimed at rescuing an American airman who went missing in southern Iran. This groundbreaking system possesses the capability to detect a person’s heartbeat from considerable distances using electromagnetic signals, as reported by the New York Post.
The operation commenced following the downing of a US F-15 in the region, resulting in one crew member, known as “Dude 44 Bravo,” becoming stranded. This airman remained concealed in a remote area for two days before being saved through the newly developed system. Below is what has been disclosed about Ghost Murmur.
What is Ghost Murmur, and how did it contribute to the rescue of the lost pilot?
It has been reported that the pilot relied on the Combat Survivor Evader Locator beacon system manufactured by Boeing to indicate his location; however, rescuers struggled to pinpoint the exact site.
The CIA subsequently deployed the Ghost Murmur system to ascertain his coordinates. Once located, US forces carried out the rescue operation successfully.
The Technology Behind Ghost Murmur
Ghost Murmur integrates artificial intelligence (AI) with advanced sensing technology to detect the electromagnetic signals emitted by a human heartbeat. It utilises quantum magnetometry to pick up these subtle signals, eliminate background noise, and identify the individual.
During a White House briefing, CIA Director John Ratcliffe announced that this marked the system’s inaugural use in a live scenario. However, he withheld further insights into the operational specifics and underlying mechanics of the technology.
Meaning of the Name Ghost Murmur
The title “Ghost Murmur” symbolises its purpose; “murmur” refers to the rhythmic nature of a heartbeat, while “ghost” signifies the absent individual.
Details from the Rescue Operation
In a statement, President Donald Trump mentioned that the CIA succeeded in locating the pilot from approximately 40 miles away.
He described the task by stating that it was akin to “finding a needle in a haystack” and commended the CIA’s exceptional efforts in locating the individual.
An unnamed source quoted by the New York Post remarked, “It’s like hearing a voice in a stadium, except the stadium is a thousand square miles of desert.”
“In the right conditions, if your heart is beating, we will find you,” the source added.
Nevertheless, comprehensive technical and operational information about Ghost Murmur remains sparse, with many aspects being classified due to its sensitive application within military operations.
