Affordable Laptop: MacBook Neo Unveiled by Apple
On the concluding day of its launch event, the Cupertino giant revealed the MacBook Neo, marking its entry into the affordable laptop market. The company states that this novel series provides the essence of the Mac at an unprecedented price point. With vibrant colour choices, the power of the A18 Pro processor, integrated Apple Intelligence functionality, and more, the starting price in India is set at Rs 69,900. Here’s a comprehensive overview of the MacBook Neo.
MacBook Neo: Specifications and Features
The MacBook Neo comes with a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, featuring an anti-reflective coating that delivers superior brightness and resolution within its price bracket. The screen reportedly achieves brightness levels of up to 500 nits and supports 1 billion colours.
Being part of the budget segment, the Neo version does not include M series chips. Instead, it utilises the A18 Pro processor, which is claimed to provide up to 50 percent improved performance for everyday activities such as web browsing, along with up to three times faster AI processing tasks on the device, in comparison to the most popular PC featuring the latest Intel Core Ultra 5. This chipset includes a 16-core Neural Engine, enabling quick on-device Apple Intelligence capabilities.
Equipped with a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, the MacBook Neo also includes dual microphones with directional beamforming technology for minimising background noise, as well as dual side-firing speakers that support Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos.
For connectivity options, it provides two USB-C ports, a headphone jack, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 6. The MacBook also boasts a remarkable battery life of up to 16 hours on a single charge.
MacBook Neo Price in India and Availability
The MacBook Neo is offered in blush, indigo, silver, and a fresh citrus colour option. Its entry-level pricing starts at Rs 69,900, which represents a significant reduction compared to the MacBook Air, which begins at Rs 1,19,900. Pre-orders for the MacBook Neo will commence on March 4, with general sales scheduled to start on March 11.
