Lava Blaze AMOLED 2: Redefining Budget Smartphone Experience

In the sub-₹15,000 Android segment, consumers often find themselves adjusting their expectations due to dim LCDs, slow processors, and overwhelming bloatware. However, the Lava Blaze AMOLED 2 appears to indicate that a conscious decision was made to integrate features typically found in phones at much higher price points.

Design and Display

The first aspect that impresses is its slim profile. At just 7.55mm thick, the Blaze AMOLED 2 is the slimmest option in its category, and the Linea design on the back adds an attractive touch without being overly conspicuous. The Feather White model reflects light beautifully while resisting fingerprints effectively.

Flipping the device reveals a stunning 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen that offers deep blacks and vibrant colours. The 120Hz refresh rate ensures fluid scrolling, while HDR videos deliver an impressive viewing experience uncommon for a price of ₹13,499. This display encourages the enjoyment of old favourites on streaming platforms, enhancing their visual appeal.

Performance That Feels More Expensive

At the heart of the Blaze AMOLED 2 is the MediaTek Dimensity 7060, complemented by 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM and an additional 6GB of virtual memory. The device proves its worth with notably smooth transitions between demanding applications and surprisingly capable gaming performance. An AnTuTu score exceeding 500,000 underscores a fast, responsive user experience.

With 128GB UFS 3.1 storage, app installations occur rapidly, file transfers are swift, and loading times are minimal. The clean Android 15 interface, free from bloatware, ensures there are no disruptive applications vying for attention.

Cameras That Punch Above Their Weight

The 50MP Sony IMX752 sensor on the rear makes a strong impression. Daytime photos exhibit clarity, natural colours, and excellent dynamic range. Night shots exceed expectations for this price range, with effective noise management during processing. The 8MP front camera is dependable for social media use; while it may not match flagship quality, it accurately captures skin tones.

Battery and Charging

The 5000mAh battery comfortably supports a day and a half of mixed usage. Typically, around 30% charge remains at the end of the day. The 33W charger provided in the box recharges the device in about an hour and fifteen minutes; while it may not be the fastest in its category, it remains rapid enough to alleviate battery-related anxiety.

Verdict

The Lava Blaze AMOLED 2 transcends the typical budget smartphone cliché by excelling in essential areas. It successfully incorporates a genuinely high-quality display and includes valuable features such as streamlined software and impressive performance. Priced at ₹13,499, this smartphone is an excellent choice for users seeking a refreshing and budget-friendly option.

Pros

  • Stunning 120Hz AMOLED display
  • Lightweight and slim design
  • Strong performance driven by Dimensity 7060
  • Clear Android 15 with no unnecessary bloatware
  • Impressive main camera quality

Cons

  • Charging speed is fast but not the quickest in its segment
  • Front camera might lack sharpness in low-light conditions
