Redesigned Interface
The updated version features an overhauled interface with standardised components and a reworked lock screen. Quick Settings have been optimised, boasting a cleaner design and broader format tiles. The revamped dark mode enhances contrast to alleviate eye strain and boost power efficiency. A new brightness slider allows for finer adjustments, complemented by expanded Always-on Display functionalities.
Multitasking Enhancements
In Nothing OS 4.0, multitasking receives a boost with the addition of a Pop-up View that accommodates two floating app icons. This feature facilitates quicker task switching, while swipe gestures simplify the process of minimising or expanding applications effortlessly. The update places significant emphasis on app optimisation, aiming for more responsive launches and overall improved system performance.
Improvements in Photography Tools
The Camera app benefits from new controls and creative presets, enhancing photography capabilities. Additionally, the Gallery app adopts a more user-friendly layout. This update incorporates a dashboard to monitor AI usage, along with controls for managing AI functionalities, underscoring a strong emphasis on user privacy.
Connectivity and Stability Updates
Notable improvements encompass enhanced Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, along with a more stable system experience. Users will enjoy faster access to Bluetooth recording features, contributing to overall efficiency.
Open Beta Programme
The open beta programme for Nothing OS 4.0 is set to launch soon after the recent closed beta testing conducted on the Phone 3 last month. The anticipated rollout is on schedule for September, where the Phone 3 will be the first to receive the update. Other compatible devices include the Phone 2, Phone 2a, Phone 2a Plus, Phone 3a, Phone 3a Pro, CMF Phone 1, and CMF Phone 2 Pro. However, it has been confirmed that the first device, the Phone 1, has reached the end of its update cycle and will not be eligible for the new version.
