NVIDIA Partners with Thinking Machines Lab to Enhance AI Technology
NVIDIA has entered into a multiyear chip supply agreement with Thinking Machines Lab, an artificial intelligence startup established by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati. As reported by the Financial Times, this arrangement is valued at several billion dollars and is aimed at helping the company expand its enterprise AI platform.
The startup announced plans to utilise at least one gigawatt of NVIDIA’s forthcoming Vera Rubin chips to facilitate the training of Thinking Machines’ frontier models and platforms that deliver customisable AI solutions at scale. Furthermore, NVIDIA has made a considerable investment in Thinking Machines Lab to aid the company’s long-term development.
Jensen Huang, the founder and CEO of NVIDIA, remarked that AI represents the most powerful tool for knowledge discovery in human history. He expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that Thinking Machines has assembled an exceptional team to push the boundaries of AI. The collaboration aims to bring to fruition their ambitious vision for the future of artificial intelligence.
Mira Murati described the agreement as a cornerstone for Thinking Machines’ larger mission, emphasising that NVIDIA’s technology forms the bedrock upon which the entire sector is established.
In addition to the chip supply arrangement, NVIDIA also took part in Thinking Machines’ $2 billion seed funding round last year, which valued the startup at $10 billion, along with making a further significant investment as part of this new deal.
This collaboration is focused on creating advanced AI that enhances human capabilities, rather than substituting them. It positions AI as a groundbreaking technology that should widen the scope of human achievement.
