Philips Smartphones Set to Enter the Indian Market

Philips Smartphones Set to Enter the Indian Market

The Indian smartphone market is about to witness a significant new competitor as the consumer electronics leader Philips gets ready to introduce its smartphones in India. This initiative is anticipated to heighten the rivalry against established Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, vivo, and OPPO, particularly in the affordable segment.

Philips capitalises on its strong brand presence in India, built over decades of providing products like televisions and radios, to support its mobile venture.

The collaboration will be carried out with Zenotel India Pvt. Ltd, the exclusive distributor for Philips mobile devices in India, which has shared a teaser for two forthcoming smartphones. Although the specific features of the initial smartphones are yet to be divulged, the new range is expected to be available in stores by early next year. The company’s entry underscores a renewed commitment to one of the most rapidly expanding and competitive consumer technology markets in the world.

Until now, Philips and Zenote have been focused on selling feature phones in India. The company is now set to unveil not only smartphones but also laptops, smartwatches, and tablets, with the aim of securing a notable share of the lucrative Indian market.
