Qualcomm has launched the third edition of Snapdragon for India, introducing two robust processors designed for the mid-range smartphone market. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chips come equipped with features such as Smooth Motion UI, which aims to provide seamless navigation, AI-enhanced camera functionalities, immersive AI-driven gaming experiences, and more to cater to the preferences of Indian smartphone users.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 5: Key Features
Smartphones featuring the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 SoC promise a smooth daily experience, delivering up to 21% enhanced GPU performance, 20% quicker app launches, and 18% reduced screen stutter. This processor also incorporates Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI, ensuring fluid navigation and uninterrupted gaming experiences.
The chipset comprises an octa-core Qualcomm Kryo CPU, consisting of four performance cores operating at speeds up to 2.6GHz and four efficiency cores functioning at up to 2.0GHz. It supports configurations of up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage while being built with TSMC’s 4nm process for consistent daily interactions.
Additionally, it boasts advanced gaming capabilities with features like Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0, Snapdragon Game Super Resolution, and Qualcomm Frames Per Second 3.0.
In the realm of photography, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 supports camera sensors of up to 200MP and is capable of recording 4K HDR video at 30fps. Furthermore, it includes advanced connectivity options like Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, Qualcomm XPAN technology, and support for 17 5G bands.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor is expected to debut in smartphones from Honor and Redmi.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 5: Key Features
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is designed for budget smartphones, providing a significant performance upgrade for everyday tasks. Qualcomm claims that it offers 77% improved GPU performance, 43% quicker app launches, and 25% less screen stutter. This model also features an octa-core Kryo CPU, which delivers advanced capabilities at a more affordable price.
Qualcomm has announced that the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 SoC will be featured in devices from Oppo, Realme, and Redmi.
