Realme P4 Power: A Shift Towards Endurance in Smartphones

Realme is focusing on the needs of Indian smartphone users who prioritise endurance rather than speed.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is set to unveil the Realme P4 Power in India on January 29, 2026. With an impressive 10,001mAh battery, which surpasses the typical capacity found in the mainstream market, the company is shifting its strategy to align with changing consumer preferences.

In a conversation with Startup Superb, Francis Wong, Chief Marketing Officer of Realme India, highlighted that customers are moving away from the fast-charging trend and are now looking for devices that can sustain an entire day’s use from a single charge.

The underlying issue, as Wong explained, is not the speed of charging but rather the necessity for larger battery sizes. Users prefer to charge once overnight and enjoy a full day of functionality, he remarked.

The Power-Focused Smartphone

The P4 Power is branded as a power-centric device in a market where 5,000mAh batteries have been the standard. Realme asserts that the smartphone will maintain a sleek form factor while incorporating one of the largest batteries available in a consumer phone.

Wong mentioned that the primary engineering challenge was balancing the large battery size with the overall device thickness.

Addressing this concern, Realme applied advanced silicon-carbon battery technology to enhance energy density and minimise size.

Additionally, despite emphasising battery capacity, Realme has not overlooked the importance of fast charging. The P4 Power supports 80W fast charging, enabling it to reach 50% in roughly 36 minutes, with a full charge completed in about 85 minutes. For a smartphone boasting a 10,001mAh battery, Wong views this as quite acceptable.

Targeting Heavy Users and Students

Realme aims the P4 Power directly at heavy smartphone users, particularly targeting students who dedicate substantial time to their devices for entertainment, gaming, and online education.

Wong clarified that the device is tailored for these demanding users, especially students.

The company also intends to broaden its portfolio with additional smartphones featuring large batteries in the near future.

Realme plans to launch more models with battery capacities of 8,000mAh and 9,000mAh, offering consumers diverse choices across various segments.

Emphasising Battery Longevity

Beyond the considerable size, Realme is also addressing battery lifespan concerns, a critical aspect for Indian consumers who often keep their phones for extended periods.

Wong stated that the P4 Power will come with a battery health guarantee.

Realme offers a promise that if battery health declines below 80% within four years, users will receive a complimentary battery replacement. This confidence stems from the battery being designed to endure up to 1,600 charging cycles, as Wong communicated.

He further noted that the larger battery itself contributes positively to long-term health.

The 10,000mAh battery allows users to charge less frequently, which is essential for maintaining battery performance over time.

A Value-for-Money Approach

The P4 Power is set to be marketed as a value-for-money option and will focus on online sales, according to Wong, as this strategy enables Realme to keep its pricing competitive.

Although the final price has not yet been revealed, Wong indicated that Realme aims to ensure the phone is affordable for its primary audience.
