Skyscanner Launches DROPS Feature to Help Travellers Save on Flights
Flight price reductions are now easier to find with the new Skyscanner feature known as ‘DROPS’. This app-exclusive functionality is created to assist travellers in identifying airfare reductions of over 20% compared to the lowest price observed in the previous week.
As highlighted in Skyscanner’s Travel Trends 2025 Report, flight costs are a crucial consideration for travellers in India, with 62% indicating that ticket prices play a significant role in their decision-making process. The DROPS feature offers users daily notifications about flights from nearby airports that have experienced considerable price cuts.
Using DROPS on the Skyscanner App
To enjoy the benefits of DROPS, users simply need to log into the Skyscanner app, where they can find the latest discounted flights showcased each day. This feature is designed to provide a more straightforward method for travellers to track and attain lower fares.
Trends Observed During January
Analysis of data from Indian travellers utilising the DROPS feature in January revealed intriguing trends:
- The largest volume of discounted flights appeared on Fridays.
- Most DROPS were released early, with 38% available before 9:00 AM.
- Goa had the highest number of DROPS, followed by Bangkok and Prayagraj.

The ten destinations with the most extensive number of DROPS recorded in January are:

Significant Price Reductions
The average saving achieved through DROPS in January was ₹8,635. Among destinations with a minimum of 50 DROPS noted, Tokyo led with the highest average price cut at ₹20,988, followed by Dubai at ₹15,304 and Prayagraj at ₹13,008.
Mohit Joshi, a Travel and Destinations Expert at Skyscanner, mentioned that the new feature is intended to help budget-aware travellers discover better deals. He emphasised that with more Indians planning to travel in 2025, this feature guarantees access to substantial savings on flights.
