Introducing Slack Lists: A New Dimension in Project Management
Slack Lists is a newly unveiled feature that aims to integrate project management seamlessly within the Slack platform, where teams already engage. This tool empowers users to capture, structure, and monitor projects, requests, and deadlines without leaving the application.
The feature is designed to alleviate persistent issues associated with traditional project management tools, which frequently fall short of fulfilling the needs of employees who are actively engaged in their work. Slack Lists transforms conversations into organised tasks, equipped with fields such as assignee, due date, status, and priority. Consequently, teams can sort, filter, and group tasks for enhanced visibility and accountability.
Elevating Team Collaboration with Slack Lists
With the introduction of Slack Lists, transforming conversations into actionable tasks that propel work forward has never been easier. Slack CEO Denise Dresser noted that loose next steps discussed in a project channel can now be effectively tracked across a team. This project management feature empowers teams within organisations to access everything they need to expedite project completion and boost productivity by harnessing Slack’s full capabilities.
Integration and Advanced Features
The Lists feature integrates with Workflow Builder to facilitate automation, permits users to embed Lists within a Slack canvas featuring project timelines, and allows for saving messages directly to a list. Upcoming features will also showcase project recaps and instantaneous searches using Slack AI.
Real-World Applications of Slack Lists
During its pilot phase, Slack observed that 77 per cent of testers felt that Lists enhanced their ability to accomplish work. Among the early adopters was Marriott Digital Services, where Lori Drake, the Director of System Strategy, expressed enthusiasm about leveraging Lists to manage projects and track requests, highlighting the potential for significant time savings for their team.
Slack indicates that Lists can be tailored to various industries, from overseeing sales accounts and IT requests to addressing incidents or planning marketing initiatives. By consolidating conversations and project tracking in one central location, Slack aims to help teams reduce redundant work and minimise reliance on multiple external applications.
