Swiggy has introduced a groundbreaking feature, Swiggy Drops, aiming to enhance the excitement in food delivery by presenting exclusive, limited-edition, chef-curated dishes available for a brief period and in restricted quantities.
Highlighting Noteworthy Collaborations
This new initiative showcases partnerships with some of the nation’s most renowned chefs and beloved restaurants. Among the initial collaborators are Le15 Patisserie by Pooja Dhingra, Smash Guys by AB Gupta, Aubree, Ciclo Café, Louis Burger, Good Flippin’s Burgers, TwentySeven Bakehouse, and Espressos AnyDay. Each drop represents a timed event where unique recipes, not found on standard menus, are made available on Swiggy. Users can express their interest in advance through the app, and once the slots are filled, a waitlist is activated. As the drop time approaches, Swiggy sends reminders to ensure that fans stay engaged, generating a sense of urgency and anticipation.

The Chief Business Officer of Swiggy Food Marketplace, Sidharth Bhakoo, stated that the Drops feature aims to instill a feeling of urgency and exclusivity. He noted that with Drops, food ordering transforms into something thrilling, rare, and delicious. It presents users with the opportunity to experience completely new culinary creations from their favourite chefs and brands, exclusively available on Swiggy.
Impact on Restaurant Partners
For restaurant partners, this feature extends beyond a simple marketing strategy. Kishore Kumar, Founder of Aubree, mentioned that the Drops feature generated significant buzz, stimulating conversations, orders, and social sharing. The element of exclusivity instantly made it a fan favourite, leading to a 58% increase in orders compared to the same day a week prior. Kumar expressed gratitude to Swiggy, stating that each drop feels celebratory, enhancing the experience of flavours, fun, and foodie joy.
Customer Engagement and Experience
AB Gupta, Co-founder of Smash Guys, described the response to Drops as phenomenal, achieving over 100 orders within the first ten minutes. The excitement surrounding the new format provided customers with a fresh and memorable way to interact with Smash Guys. He emphasised that it transcended simple food ordering, evolving into a remarkable experience.
