Tim Cook Transitioning to Executive Chairman at Apple
Apple CEO Tim Cook is set to step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer and will assume the role of Executive Chairman on September 1, 2026. In light of this announcement, US President Donald Trump took to the Truth Social platform to commend Cook’s leadership and label him an “incredible” leader while reminiscing about their collaborative experiences.
Trump expressed that he has always been a significant admirer of Tim Cook. He noted that had Steve Jobs not passed away prematurely and continued to lead the company, Apple might have performed well, but not nearly as superbly as it has under Cook’s direction.
Trump’s Reflections on Tim Cook
In his post, Trump shared his encounters with Cook, noting how he had assisted in resolving “large problems” that only the President could address. He also recalled the amusing moment when he mistakenly referred to Cook as “Tim Apple,” reflecting on this light-hearted episode from their past conversations.
Trump recounted his first conversation with Cook, admitting he was pleasantly surprised that the head of Apple reached out to him in such a manner. He mentioned that during his presidency, although Cook would call occasionally, he appreciated the subtlety of their interactions, helping him when it was necessary.
Significant Contributions and Legacy
Trump clarified that over his five-year presidency, he received calls from Tim Cook, enabling him to assist in various matters, though there were instances when Cook’s requests were perhaps overly ambitious. He praised Cook as an “amazing manager and leader,” acknowledging contributions that shaped the company’s trajectory.
Trump’s post concluded by lauding Cook’s exceptional career, which he described as nearly unparalleled, expressing confidence that Tim Cook will continue to excel in his future endeavors with Apple.
Leadership Transition at Apple
As Tim Cook steps into this new role, John Ternus is set to take over as CEO in September 2026. Moreover, Apple has appointed Johny Srouji as the new Chief Hardware Officer, succeeding Ternus’s previous responsibilities.
