iPhone 17 Pro showcases a newly designed aluminium unibody, featuring the A19 Pro chip and an enhanced camera system comprising three 48MP sensors along with a new 18MP Center Stage front camera. Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, mentioned that the iPhone 17 Pro is the most powerful iPhone created, featuring a spectacular new design aimed at maximising performance and significantly enhancing battery life. With three 48MP Fusion cameras and a new front camera experience, opportunities for creativity are limitless. The iPhone 17 Pro sets an unparalleled benchmark in the smartphone sector, catering to the most rigorous requirements of users.

Design and Build Quality

The body of the iPhone 17 Pro is crafted from aerospace-grade 7000-series aluminium, which is intricately laser-welded around a sealed vapor chamber employing deionised water to effectively manage heat generated by the A19 Pro. Enhanced connectivity is ensured through antennas strategically placed around the device, while a raised rear section provides space for an increased battery capacity. The fast charging feature enables up to 50 percent battery life in approximately 20 minutes when using a high-watt USB-C adapter.

Display and Durability

The device is equipped with 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR displays that support ProMotion technology up to 120Hz, Always-On functionality, and a dazzling 3000-nit peak brightness. With improved scratch resistance and reduced glare offered by Ceramic Shield 2, not only does it protect the front, but now also the back, enhancing crack resistance.

A19 Pro Chip Capabilities

The A19 Pro chip melds a 6-core CPU with a matching 6-core GPU that includes Neural Accelerators and an expanded cache to maintain performance over time, facilitate hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and manage on-device AI tasks. Additionally, the new N1 wireless chip grants access to Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, while also enhancing reliability for AirDrop and Personal Hotspot functionalities.

Camera Enhancements

The iPhone 17 Pro features Main, Ultra Wide, and a revolutionary Telephoto camera, each employing 48MP sensors. The Telephoto camera introduces an advanced tetraprism module with a significantly larger sensor, offering optical-quality options ranging from 24mm to 200mm, and providing 4x zoom at 100mm and 8x at 200mm, along with a digital zoom capability up to 40x. The revamped Photonic Engine improves detail resolution, decreases noise, and enhances colour fidelity.

Front Camera Innovations

Featuring an 18MP Center Stage camera, users can expect a wider field of view that supports both portrait and landscape selfies without needing to rotate the device. It stabilises 4K HDR video and facilitates Dual Capture functionality using both front and rear cameras simultaneously.

Pro-Level Video Capabilities

The Pro models incorporate features such as ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock support for synchronising multiple cameras. Maintaining Dolby Vision HDR capabilities up to 4K120 is crucial, with support for third-party workflows through collaborations with Blackmagic Design and Final Cut Camera.

iOS 26 Features

The latest iOS 26 introduces a refreshed Liquid Glass design aesthetic, Live Translation for Messages, FaceTime, and Phone, plus enhanced visual intelligence for screenshot-related tasks. It expands call and message screening features and presents a new dedicated Apple Games hub, powered by on-device foundation models that offer private, developer-integrated AI functionalities.

Accessories and Availability

Apple also revealed new TechWoven, Silicone, and Clear MagSafe cases, alongside a recycled-yarn Crossbody Strap available in ten vibrant colours.

The iPhone 17 Pro will come in storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB, while the Pro Max version will feature an additional 2TB choice. Pricing in India begins at ₹1,34,900 for the iPhone 17 Pro and ₹1,49,900 for the Pro Max. Preorders will open on September 12 at 5 a.m. PDT, with availability scheduled for September 19 across more than 60 countries and regions, and extending to other markets by September 26.
