Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy Z Fold7, its most sophisticated foldable smartphone to date, showcasing innovative AI, high-quality hardware, and an ultra-slim design. Launched globally on July 9, the Fold7 is powered by Android 16 and features Samsung’s latest One UI 8, specifically designed for the expansive foldable display.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 integrates advanced Galaxy AI with high-performance hardware, providing users with the most sophisticated smartphone experience available. TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics, highlighted that this new phase of foldable technology merges aesthetic appeal with engineering excellence, offering AI functionality designed exclusively for the foldable format. This innovation delivers an exceptional user experience that is powerful, immersive, intelligent, and highly portable.

Lightweight and Compact Design

Weighing in at just 215 grams, the Fold7 stands out as the lightest smartphone in its category. When folded, it measures 8.9 mm thick and expands to reveal a remarkable 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, boasting an 11% increase in screen area compared to its predecessor. The new 6.5-inch cover screen introduces a more user-friendly 21:9 aspect ratio, perfect for one-handed operation.

Durability and Strength

The Fold7 is built to last, featuring Samsung’s Armor FlexHinge, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the cover screen, and a main display reinforced with titanium, making it 50% thicker and more resilient. It also has an IP48 rating, ensuring water resistance.

Powerful Performance

The device is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, delivering a 41% increase in NPU capabilities and a 38% boost in CPU performance. This hardware supports various on-device AI functionalities including real-time translation, photo enhancements, and the updated Generative Edit, which can automatically suggest edits and remove background distractions.

Impressive Photography Options

An exciting upgrade is the introduction of a 200MP wide-angle camera, the first of its kind in the Fold series, providing four times the detail and brighter images. This is complemented by a 10MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Advanced Night Video capabilities and 10-bit HDR ensure vibrant detail even in dim lighting.

Enhanced Productivity Tools

In terms of productivity, the Fold7 lets users effortlessly compare original and edited images side by side, use smarter audio noise reduction, and leverage seamless drag-and-drop AI editing across multiple windows. One UI 8 is designed to be more context-aware, offering features like Gemini Live, which allows users to interact with AI via voice or visuals, and Circle to Search, which provides immediate responses on-screen.

Security Enhancements

Samsung has improved mobile security with Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection and post-quantum cryptography for Wi-Fi connections.

Pre-orders began on July 9, with the Fold7 accessible starting from July 25. Available colours include Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet Black, and an exclusive online Mint variant. Customers will also enjoy six months of Google AI Pro and 2TB of complimentary cloud storage.
