ViewSonic Driving AI-Driven Innovations in Asia Pacific
ViewSonic is placing emphasis on AI-driven software, sustainable design, and immersive display technologies as it aims to grow its presence in Asia Pacific and beyond. In an exclusive discussion with Startup Superb, Eric Wei, the General Manager for Asia Pacific at ViewSonic, shared insights into how the company is establishing itself in the fields of education, enterprise, gaming, and home entertainment.
Strategy and Technological Approach
ViewSonic’s approach encompasses more than just hardware upgrades. The company views technology as a tool to enhance experiences across education, enterprise, gaming, and home entertainment, rather than merely focusing on hardware improvements. With mini-LED, OLED, and smart displays, ViewSonic is developing what it refers to as a unified ecosystem comprising hardware, software, and services. This offers AI-driven performance optimisation, cross-device connectivity, and software platforms aimed at enhancing productivity and creativity.
Expanding Across Asia Pacific
Under Wei’s guidance, ViewSonic has significantly bolstered its presence in key Asian markets. He mentioned that the strategy hinges on flexibility and a customer-first mentality. By accommodating local cultural differences and collaborating closely with partners, distributors, and end-users, the brand has successfully built trust and delivered customised solutions in education, enterprise, and entertainment sectors.
Creating robust local ecosystems is a top priority for the company. Wei emphasised that their focus is not simply on launching products, but on nurturing meaningful relationships and providing solutions that adapt alongside their customers.
Commitment to ESG and Certifications
Sustainability forms a key part of ViewSonic’s product design and corporate commitments. The company’s climate objectives for 2024 were verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aiming for a 42% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, with a target for net-zero emissions by 2050. Additionally, ViewSonic earned an EcoVadis Silver rating, ranking in the top 8% of global companies for ESG performance.
The displays produced by the company now incorporate recyclable materials, energy-efficient backlight technologies, and mercury-free LED and laser light sources with a lifespan of up to 30,000 hours. ViewSonic was the first to receive EPEAT Gold certification for digital signage. Furthermore, 97% of its packaging is now recyclable, reflecting a gradual reduction of plastics in favour of FSC-certified materials.
The Next Wave of Innovation
According to Wei, AI-driven educational platforms, smart meeting room solutions, and Direct View LED technology are expected to be the most significant trends in the professional AV and ICT fields over the coming two to three years. AI is anticipated to facilitate personalised and adaptive learning, while Direct View LED is quickly becoming the preferred choice for large-scale applications in corporate, retail, and public spaces.
At InfoComm India 2025, ViewSonic unveiled its vision titled “Solutions that Shape the Future”, showcasing notable items like a 160-inch 4K COB LED display, a 168-inch portrait LED video wall, and immersive environments for classrooms, retail, and hybrid meeting rooms. The company also introduced a Virtual Cricket Zone powered by cutting-edge projection technology.
These presentations illustrate the capabilities of the wider ViewSonic ecosystem, with Wei noting that the solutions not only push innovation but are also straightforward to implement, scalable, and aligned with their mission to transform how people create, work, and learn globally.
Building for the Future
Wei’s leadership style, shaped by his experiences across varied Asia Pacific markets, focuses on adaptability, empathy, and transparency. He holds the belief that high-performing teams thrive on trust and open dialogue, fostering collaboration and direct responsibility for solutions.
Looking forward, ViewSonic intends to continue utilising platforms like InfoComm to strengthen industry collaborations, gather market insights, and integrate sustainability into its innovation plans. Wei highlighted that such platforms allow them to demonstrate innovation while reinforcing the professional AV ecosystem, underscoring the critical role of collaboration in fostering long-term industry growth.
