Wipro Hybrid Work Rules

Wipro has recently updated its hybrid work rules, mandating that employees must physically be present in the office for at least 6 hours or face potential leave deductions, as reported by The Economic Times. Employees will continue to follow a three-day office attendance schedule every week, but the new guideline specifies a minimum 6-hour presence in the office.

Work Schedule Adjustments

The standard workday at Wipro requires employees to work a total of 9.5 hours each day. With the implementation of this new 6-hour office attendance rule, employees will need to make up the remaining hours from home. This new policy was communicated through an internal email to staff members. Wipro believes that this adjustment will enable employees to meet their work hours while fostering improved collaboration with their teams.

Leave Deductions for Non-compliance

The report indicates that if employees do not fulfil the 6-hour requirement on scheduled days, the company may deduct half a day’s leave from their total leave balance. Should the 6-hour requirement continue to be unmet, the company may implement further deductions from leave days over time. This trend illustrates that IT firms are instituting tougher regulations surrounding hybrid and in-office work arrangements.

Industry-Wide Trends

Other IT companies, such as Infosys, HCLTech, and Accenture, have adopted similar hybrid work policies, requiring a set amount of in-office time. While these organisations still provide work-from-home options, they are increasingly enforcing stricter regulations for hybrid work to enhance accountability, with a focus on closely monitoring office attendance.
