Molbio Diagnostics IPO Debut: A 21.44% Premium Listing

Molbio Diagnostics made a notable entrance on the stock exchanges on Monday, with its shares listing at a 21.44% premium compared to the IPO price. The shares commenced trading at Rs 980 on both the NSE and BSE, against an issue price of Rs 807. This successful listing followed significant investor interest in Molbio’s Rs 939.7 crore IPO, which was available for subscription from August 10 to 12, and saw a subscription rate of approximately 70.27 times.

Details of the IPO

The IPO featured a fresh issue of Rs 200 crore, while the remaining Rs 739.7 crore was attributed to an offer for sale from existing shareholders. Molbio established the IPO price band at Rs 768-807 per share, accompanied by a lot size of 18 shares. For retail investors, a minimum investment of Rs 14,526 was required at the upper price band.

About Molbio Diagnostics

The company is renowned for its Truenat platform, a point-of-care molecular diagnostics system proficient in testing various diseases. Its business model integrates diagnostic devices within healthcare facilities, generating recurring revenue through the sale of test kits. As indicated in its IPO documents, the platform has commercialised tests covering 30 diseases and 42 assays.

Financial Growth

Molbio has demonstrated robust financial growth, with revenues climbing to approximately Rs 1,455 crore in FY26, while profit after tax reached around Rs 164 crore. This performance is an increase compared to Rs 139 crore in FY25.

Market Response

The firm’s impressive debut occurred despite grey market predictions suggesting a lower listing price. The grey market premium (GMP) was noted to be around Rs 120 prior to the listing, implying an anticipated price of approximately Rs 927. Nonetheless, the actual debut price of Rs 980 surpassed those expectations.

Currently, the share price is being traded at Rs 1008.40 as of 10.51 AM, with a total market capitalisation amounting to Rs 11,628 crore (approximately $1.22 billion).
