Counterfeit Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme Smartphones Seized by Delhi Police

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has executed a significant operation, seizing large quantities of fraudulent Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme smartphones. Two individuals were arrested for their alleged roles in the production, packaging, and distribution of these counterfeit mobile devices in the capital.

Moreover, police authorities have closed down two storage warehouses located in Karol Bagh that were allegedly involved in packing and labelling these fake smartphones. Additionally, a factory in Moti Nagar has been sealed, where packaging boxes for the counterfeit devices were produced. Over eight machines have also been confiscated, which were utilized to manufacture these counterfeit smartphones.

Delhi Police Crackdown on Counterfeit Products

During a recent search and seizure operation, a substantial amount of counterfeit merchandise from the OPPO, OnePlus, and Realme brands was recovered. Two godowns in Regharpura, Karol Bagh, were sealed where these fake products were being packaged and marketed.

Details from the Operation

As reported by ANI, the Delhi Police Crime Branch discovered a printing press alongside three storage warehouses involved in a counterfeiting scheme. These facilities were employed to print fake branding and labels, package counterfeit products, and prepare them for sale in the market. This raid is part of a comprehensive initiative targeting counterfeit electronics and other illegal products. The police indicated that the investigation is still in progress.

Identifying Fake Smartphones

To avoid purchasing counterfeit smartphones, consider the following warning signs:

  • Examine the packaging closely for any misspellings, inconsistencies in logos, or poor-quality materials.
  • Verify the “IMEI” number using the official verification pages of OnePlus or Realme/Oppo.
  • Utilise brand authenticity tools such as serial numbers or QR codes that link to official websites.
  • Check pricing against the official brand website and be wary of offers that appear too good to be true.
  • When buying smartphones in person, ensure the seller is authorised.
  • If a counterfeit smartphone is identified or received, it is essential to report it immediately.
